Chaos in Enugu as Police Harass Benz Owner During Stop-and-Search

On the morning of February 21, 2025, tension erupted at Nowas, Trans Ekulu, Enugu, after police officers allegedly harassed a young man driving a Benz on his way to a burial. Despite displaying a burial poster on his vehicle, the officers subjected him to an aggressive stop-and-search.

According to eyewitnesses, the situation escalated when the officers reportedly fired multiple shots into the air and at the young man’s car. They then attempted to arrest him, but an outraged crowd intervened, preventing the officers from taking him away.

Sensing the growing unrest, some of the officers fled the scene. However, one officer was left behind, and the agitated crowd demanded to see his identification.
